INDIA HAS A RICH HERITAGE OF THE PERFORMING ART OF RECITATION OR ELOCUTION, IT DATES BACK TO THE DAYS OF THE SERENE TAPOVANAS, WHERE THE MORNINGS AND EVENINGS USED TO RESONATE THE VEDAS AND UPANISHADS BY THE RISHIS . THEN THE TORCH WAS RELAYED TO THE BARDS- THE CHAARANS--- WHO USED TO EDUCATE THE COMMON MASS WITH THE CHERISHED IDEALS OF THE TWO EPICS, VARIOUS WORKS OF LITERATURE BY NOTED POETS OF ALL THE AGES AND THUS IMBIBE THE GOOD QUALITIES WITH WHICH THE LIVING STYLE OF THE MASSES CONFORMED TO A CERTAIN STANDARD WHICH ACTUALLY HELD THIS LARGE COUNTRY TOGETHER DESPITE VARIOUS DIFFERENCES AND DIFFICULTIES.
IN BENGAL ALSO, WE HAVE THE RICH TRADITION OF THE BARDS NARRATING THE LIVES OF SRIKRISHNA, THE RAMAYANA, THE MAHABHARATA, THE BAISHNAVA PADABALI TO THE AUDIENCE IN REMOTE VILLAGES, AND HELPED THEM STICK TO A DEFINITE ETHICAL STANDARD THROUGH OUT THEIR LIFE . THIS LEGACY HAS BEEN CARRIED FORWARD THROUGH THE RENAISSANCE OF BENGAL.
THE RENAISSANCE OF BENGAL ACTUALLY SAW MANY FLOWERS BLOOM IN A SHORT SPELL OF TIME AND IT IS THIS ART FORM WITH SLIGHT REGIONAL MODIFICATIONS, THROUGH WHICH THE AWARENESS WERE SPREAD TO THE REMOTEST PART OF THIS STATE. NOT LONG GONE ARE THE DAYS WHEN PERFORMERS LIKE CHARANKABI MUKUNDADADS, SABITABRATA DUTTA AND HIS LIKES REJUVENATED THE RURAL SOCIETY THROUGH RECITING AND SINGING POEMS AND SONGS OF THE CONTEMPORARY POETS AND LYRICISTS OF THE LIKE OF D.L.ROY, KAJI NAJRUL ISLAM, RABINDRANATH TAGORE .
ACTUALLY THIS ART IS TRACING THE WAY FROM THE KIRTANAS, KATHAKATA ASARS, YATRAS AND OTHER LIKE FORMS WHICH WERE PREVAILING IN THE RURAL BENGAL TILL THE OTHER DAY. IN THE URBAN BENGAL THIS ART FORM IS CONTRIBUTING ITS SHARE IN THE BIG TIME DRAMAS AND THE MODERNISED THEATRES.
THE EXPRESSION OF A HUMAN BEING IN FORM OF UTTERRED WORDS IS BASICALLY A FORM OF THE BACHIK ART.

THE PRONOUNCEMENT OF THE PRIMORDIAL SOUND "OM" ACTUALLY IS CONSIDERED AS A LINK TO THE ESSENCE OF THE UNIVERSE.
WHEN THE WORD ''OM'' OR ''AUM'' IS PRONOUNCED IN ITS FULL GLORY, THE VIBRATION OF THE SOUND WAVES ACTUALLY RESONATES WITH BASIC VIBRATIONS OF THE UNIVERSE.
IT IS THESE VIBRATIONS OF THE SOUND WAVES WHCIH HAVE BEEN USED OVER THE TOTAL SPAN OF MANKIND TO IMPRESS OTHER PEOPLE BECASUE IT HAS BEEN EXPERIMENTALLY PROVED THAT WHICH THE ART FORM ACTUALLY REQUIRES MASTERY OF A NUMBER OF DISCIPLINES AND ABOVE ALL, A TOTAL REALISATION FULL OF EMPATHY. THE RECITOR IS NOT IN POSSESSION OF ANY MEDIUM ELSE TO EXPRESS HIS CREATION BUT HIS VOICE ONLY. IT IS BY THE USE OF THIS INSTRUMENT, THE ELOCUTIONIST HAS TO ENTHRALL THE AUDIENCE. THUS IT IS PROBABLY THE MOST DIFFICULT JOB TO ARCHITECT THE BRIDGE BBETWEEN THE PERFORMER AND THE AUDIENCE. RIGHTLY IN THE FOURTH VEDA--- THE ATHARVAVEDA, THE ART FORM OF RECITATION HAS BEEN ACCORDED THE PRIME PLACE.
THE ART FORM HAS A LONG CHERISHED HISTORY IN ALMOST ALL THE ANCIENT CIVILISATION AND IN ALL THE RELIGIONS. IT CAN EASILY BE RECOLLECTED THAT IT IS THIS FORM OF EXPRESSION WHICH WAS PUT TO USE IN PREACHING THE EXTRACT OF THE REALISATION OF THE ANCIENT SEERS AMONG THE COMMON MASS, BE IT IN INDIA, IN EGYPT, IN GREECE, IN MESOPPOTEMIA, IRAN, JERUSALEM- WHEREVER IT WAS REQUIRED TO EDUCATE THE COMMON MAN INTO A STREAMED WAY OF LIFE.
PRESENTLY THIS ART FORM FINDS ITS VARIATIONS IN DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE WORLD, EITHER FOR EDUCATING THE COMMON PEOPLE ABOUT THE CHERISHED ETHICS OF THE LIVING OR FOR SHARING ONE`S FEELINGS ABOUT THE POETIC ART FORM THROUGH THE STRUCTURED FORM OF ELOCUTION OR RECITATION.

How to be a part of fraternity

General Rules for Membership:

Eligibility :Only those persons (Male or Female) who are directly connected with any one or more categories of Communicative Art i.e. Recitation, Audio Acting, Script Reading, or Anchoring and practicing or performing the art regularly, may apply for the membership of Bachik Shilpi Sanstha. They must apply on a prescribed form available on the website at appropriate time. The applicant must be above 18 years of age. One copy of stamp-sized photograph of the applicant and at least one certificate of his/her credential must be submitted along with the prescribed form duly filled in.

ONLY THOSE APPLICANTS WHOM THE MEMBERS OF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE CONSIDER QUALIFIED, WILL BE GIVEN MEMBERSHIP.DURING SELECTION OF CANDIDATURE, THE COMMITTEE MAY SEEK OPINION OF EXPERIENCED JUDGES. IN SUCH CASES, THE CANDIDATES WILL BE DULY NOTIFIED ABOUT THE DATE,TIMINGS AND VENUE OF THEIR INTERVIEW. THE DECISION OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE IS FINAL AND BINDING ON APPLICANT.

Those who are member or portfolio holders in like organisations spread all over the state may not apply. The membership, even if granted, may be cancelled on being found so.

It may be noted that this Bachik Shilpi Sanstha is not a performance based organisation and the interested persons should not expect regular stage appearances by virtue of being a member.

The members should participate in all the programs conducted by the organisation.

CATEGORIES OF MEMBERSHIP ;

General Membership : General Membership is granted to those candidates who fulfill all the criteria laid down by the Executive Committee and subsequently pay the stipulated subscriptions.

Honorary Membership :According to the unanimous decision of the executive Committee, eminent social workers, educationists or distinguished personalities of the society maybe inducted as Honorary Member of the organization.

Subscriptions and payments : An applicant will have to pay  to obtain the prescribed Application Form  On being selected for membership,an Admission fee, as stipulated by the Executive Committee alongwith the prescribed Annual Subscription will be collected in full at a time.Membership may be terminated without notice or intimation, in case a member fails to clear subscription fees for consecutive three or more years ending on 31st March.The executive committee may charge fine for late payment of subscription.
