Amiyo Chattopadhyay

Shri Amiyo Chattopadhyay, was born on 23rd June 1936 in Bankura West Bengal. Having the treasure of  the original Shri Krishna kirtan puthi  in his house attracted him to the rythm, beauty and vibrance of the shlokas, which was cherished and emulated by him throughout his life. As the destiny helped, he started his professional career at Akashbani with the then legends like Birendrakrishna Bhadra, Kaji Sabyasachi, Bela Debi, Indira Devi et al.  The later legends like Partha Ghosh, Gouri Ghosh, Padmashri Debdulal Bandopadhyay were his colleagues. During that golden period of radio, he produced a number of immemorable programmes especially the programme named DNARAO PATHIKBAR on air which were acclaimed and he was ornated with AICPA Award and Kaji Sabyasachi Memorial Award. He had a penchant of discovering new horizons through his intensive and untiring  researches which were fruitioned in  docu films like A music of a Baul,O khoka tui Ghuri Ura,Tarashankar,Betar Bishmay: Birendrakrishna Bhadra,Smriti Samadhi Kolkata et al.He was possibly the avantegarde of the Anugalpa Patrika when PATRANU was published. Shri Amiyo Chattopadhyay had also written cerebral essays like Mangalya Pratik, Manusher Pratham Galpo , Riches from Fragments. Besides being a well reputed and revered elocutionist, he was the founder member of Bachik Shilpi Sanstha in 1999.

 

Shri Chattopadhyay breathed his last on 03 Feb 2006,in the morning of Saraswati Puja, possibly to unite with the power whom he had worshipped all his life in various forms.
